You Can Stop Your Microwave From Rotating

My friend Neil is pretty healthy, he lived for a few years with no microwave at all. It forced him to eat fresh food, a healthy alternative to frozen foods that are made for the microwave. That said, the microwave can also be your best friend.
It’s great for heating water, making rice and one of my favorites: bacon (use a bacon tray to do it well). I remember the first microwave we got, I think it was 1986. That thing changed out lives. No longer did we have to wait 4 minutes for popcorn on the stove, we could do it in the microwave in 3.5 minutes. It was a magical device.
Some microwaves rotate inside, which is great — that heats food more evenly. Although, it’s not great when a large dish doesn’t fit on the turntable, it sounds like tennis shoes in the dryer.
That’s why they put the turntable on/off button on the microwave. I discovered this about two years ago and everyone I’ve told since has been completely surprised.
Don’t forget my other microwave secret, you can use foil in the microwave.

Hmm, maybe your microwave has that, but I’ve had 4 different microwaves since 1986 or so, and none of them have a button to stop the turntable.
I wish mine did!

Ya, the one we had in 1986 didn’t have it either. But, my last two have had it.

Take the plastic piece out and the plastic ring and put the glass back in. All i do with mine when something is too big for it to rotate. Mine just slide out. Although i have had them get to the point they can’t be removed any longer.

This one was a bit boring. Kind of a “duh” thing.
But our turn table is broken so we have to turn it off otherwise we get this horrible grating sound

I’ve never seen any such button. If my microwave had a button with those words on it, I doubt I’d need a blog post to figure out what it is or why I might want to use it.

I want to stop my microwave from rotating. No button for it. Frigidaire model # LFMV1645TF. I want to use my 11×13” dish.

The turntable is a weak link. I prefer it by DEFAULT not operate. But my brand new 2921 Whirlpool forces you to turn it off each use. Even the auto 30 second warmup. Not only is it a bother, but since you are virtually forced to use it, the darn turntable fails very early. The system that turns the dish is, in my experience, cannot stand repeated use. The one I saw apart was powered by a rubber band.
