I seem to recall that police found a guy who programmed a card
writing device to write stolen credit card data to some old hotel
cards he had collected for the purpose.

The apparent rationale was that he could use the hotel cards in
unattended swipe devices (gas pumps & similar), without carrying
cards that were visibly odd - multiple names, multiple instances of
a similar card type, or multiple blank (white, or no-logo) cards.

Would not multiple old hotel cards be thought odd?
"Oh, those are just souvenirs."

So, *in theory*, "hotel cards could carry CC data" but not very
likely a card that you might get from a hotel desk - in practice,
what hotel would risk the PCI/DSS penalties?

Here's an extract from a blog entitled 'Ask a Korean':

Don’t believe the Korean? Would you believe the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency? This pamphlet from the EPA, at pages 49 and 51, clearly states the hazard of using portable electric fans during high heat. It specifically says “Portable electric fans can … increase the circulation of hot air, which increases thermal stress and health risks[,]” and “DON’T use a portable electric fan in a closed room without windows or doors open to the outside.”

Or how about a climatology professor who works for the National Weather Service? In an interview with NPR about extreme heat warning system, Dr. Kalkstein specifically mentions the danger of fans in a hot, enclosed room (At 13:45 mark): "One piece of advice we tell them not to do is to sit in front of a fan in a hot apartment because it has a convection effect."

So you can see, as you actually stated yourself with the convection example, there is a scientific basis for the belief, however rare an occurrence it actually is. Obviously, in South Korea, they have got a bit carried away with it.

In Romania, we have a fear of the air draft. So we travel with the train's or car's windows closed most of the time, because if we catch a draft, we will get a cold or even worse, toothache.
Even some doctors say, when we have headaches or bad toothaches, that they may have been caused by a cold air draft.
It's a national paranoia! :))

I have been to a few white elephant parties and most of the time the gifts that were being stolen the most were anything out of the ordinary. Usually something you don’t see every day that is still somewhat useful. With a gift limit of only $10, I was amaze at all the weird and wacky things I could get while keeping my bank account happy. I found this online store while doing a Google search containing many things that are just perfect for a white elephant party. The link is below and hopefully this helps with your future white elephant gift parties!

I don't understand why a car can only be designed to crumple if it is made from one piece? Look at the underside of the hood on almost any modern car and you'll see very uneven ribbing in the sheet metal. This isn't a stylistic design element, it's done to control how the hood absorbs the energy from a crash (when it crumples). Maybe you were just joking around though, every word you used that can be spelled two ways, you spelled the wrong way.

Did you even read the article? Once you read the article, you will understand how car fax works and then you'll understand how it can only have 1 or even 0 entries.

A clean police background check doesn't mean you didn't commit any crimes, it just means you didn't get caught. Same thing with car fax, there's no guarantee they will catch everything.
